Fishing with Dave is a guided fishing trip service company that specializes in the columbia, cowlitz, and olympic peninsula rivers. They target both winter steelhead, spring, and fall. According to Dave, there are hundreds of thousands of salmon and steelhead coming up the Columbia River every year. So that, in turn, makes this company one of the busiest fisheries in the state offering a year round action. They guide people through three different rivers, so people get to have different experiences.
First, the Columbia River. They go fishing to hunt for salmon/steelhead through Washington State. “The Columbia River is known for some of the best fishing in the world.” Spring salmon enter the river in March and run through May. These spring salmon are known as springers and are among some of the best eating fish in the world. Dave’s guide service fishes the river and its tributaries all the way from the Bonneville Dam to Buoy 10 near Ilwaco Washington where the Columbia flows into the Pacific Ocean.
Second, the Cowlitz River. The Cowlitz River is located in the state of Washington and is a “tributary of the Columbia River.” The Cowlitz has some of the best winter steelhead in the state, plus a great run of fall chinook salmon from August to October. Dave fishes the river from December through March for winter steelhead and August through October for the larger than life salmon that all fishers dream about getting.
Third, the Olympic Peninsula River. This river has some of the best steelhand not only for the size. The amount of steelhead in this river is insane. “These rivers offer up some of the biggest steelhead in the state and have produced some world record steelhead.” During the winter, they take trips targeting these gigantic fish and get the chance of a lifetime to see these rare fish.
Lastly, the greatest value from the Fishing with Dave company is that David himself has been a salmon and steelhead fisherman since he was seven years old. He’s been fishing for over 40 years and has had his business since 2005. “He has an excellent experience knowing the ins and outs of the rivers and staying up to date on new techniques and tactics.” A lot of customers have said the same thing about him. David will teach, accommodate, and respect who he teaches. He truly has a deep appreciation for fishing and wants to help people understand the beauty of it.
